3 Ways to giveback this Holiday season

By Megan Steele

With the holidays just around the corner, everyone seems to be in a spirit of giving, especially since 2017 will be here before we know it. Here are several organizations and charities to look into supporting this holiday season. There are lots of amazing organizations and charities out there, but hopefully this serves as a good starting point.

amazonsmileAmazon Smile: Amazon Smile is a program through Amazon.com that allows you to support your favorite charity organizations every time you shop. It costs nothing for you to join and Amazon has almost one million organizations you can choose from to support. All that you have to do is simply shop through Amazon and make your purchase and Amazon gives you the amazing bonus of donating a portion of your purchase price to your favorite organization. How cool is that? This is the perfect way to give back while purchasing gifts or fun items during the holiday season and even year round. To learn more, please visit http://smile.amazon.com/

operation-christmas-child-2Operation Christmas Child: People around the globe have never experienced a Christmas like those in the United States. Just the fact that we give and get gifts of any size or price range is a big deal. Operation Christmas Child is an organization that provides shoe boxes full of gifts to children between the ages of 2-14. All you have to do is select boy or girl, an age range, purchase appropriate gifts (the website linked gives gift suggestions, and then drop-off your box at a drop-off station. Drop off stations can be found on the website linked as well. Don’t want to fill a box? No problem. Samaritan’s Purse, which is the organization that oversees Operation Christmas Child, also allows you to donate money to support things such as teaching children to read and write, hot meals for a child, donate towards clean water, and more. logoCharity Water: Something that we take advantage of almost every day isn’t available at such a safe and easy way. What is that? Water. According to the Charity Water website, there are 663 million people who don’t have access to clean water. In fact, the majority of these people trek millions of miles each day to get to a source of water that is usually unclean and they carry that unclean water back home. That water is what their family will use to drink, bathe, wash pots/pans with, and more. If providing fresh water is something you passionate about or interested in, this is the organization for you.
